Payment Test

11 Jun 2018

E-commerce made its debut a while back and has been making its way into more and more businesses everyday. Customers expect to be able to buy their products and services online, and when it comes to business development, business owners have learnt to adopt a customer-centric approach.

As developers, we know the pains of having to integrate with off-the-shelf software. We’ve spent endless hours trying to make our UI look better, or fumbling with APIs in the languages we develop in.

And because we know how demanding, time-consuming and energy-draining this process can be, we developed Accept. Accept makes your integration process much easier, and grants your clients a transparent, practical and cost-cutting payment solution.

Here’s why:

  1.     Integration with different payment methods through a single straightforward API.
  2.   A free full-fledged trial account to make sure all your requests and responses as well as your integration are ready to deploy.
  3.   Code snippets in industry-standard programming languages to get your development off the ground quickly.
  4. Automated callbacks to send your clients instant payment confirmations.
  5. Standard ready-made iFrames to eliminate the concern for rapid deployment for your UI team.

Happy Payment Acceptance!

Accept at RiseUp Summit 2017: The Great Fintech Debate

19 Apr 2018

This year at RiseUp Summit, Islam Shawky, CEO of Paymob Solutions sat down with Abdulaziz Al Jouf, founder and CEO of Paytabs, Ashraf Zaki, Executive Chairman of Vericash, Mohamed El Sabban, Group Head of Digital Innovation at CIB and Rami El-Dokany, director of Pride Capital to discuss financial inclusion, the challenges financial institutions are facing and what financial inclusion has to offer the region.

Just like every year, RiseUp called for the region’s entrepreneurs, visionaries and doers to attend their annual three-day RiseUp Summit. Each and every panel, talk, workshop and deep-dive revolved around Human Experience – #HX – and how creativity, innovation and disruption should have one purpose: optimizing the experience of life for each and every human being in every possible way and at every point in time. Their Tech-stage paraded different tech-players and successors, which all had something to add to the world of #HX. “The Great Fintech Debate: Disruption or Innovation” took us on a journey through they eyes of the industry’s regional pioneers, the development of financial technology, where Egypt and the region stands in terms of financial inclusion and what possibilities it holds for the future. Members of the panel, who came from different backgrounds –banks and Fintech startups –, were asked multiple questions that grant an insight on the industry’s hot topics and biggest concerns.

What are the threats and opportunities of Fintech?

One of the biggest threats of Fintech, as agreed upon unanimously, is the lack of cooperation between banks and Fintech startups. The hype on mobile financing also creates a big concern for the industry, since the market’s expectations vary from what is delivered to the end user. The human-centric experience, their needs and desires are often neglected for “shiny” and tech-savvy apps. A disruptive business model that not only serves the un-served, but also servers the underserved is one of the market’s players’ highest priorities. Such a solution would cater to the market’s potential and enable companies to take advantage of the numerous opportunities Fintech offers.
The MENA market, specifically the Egyptian market, is a market rich in population, which is unbanked and underserved. Only 15-20% of the Egyptian population is banked and the majority of them do not use banking services, as they are not convinced of the financial benefits banks have to offer. Players on the issuance side can benefit from the current status quo by giving consumers a real incentive to join banks and by enabling different payment methods for consumers to use through both mobile networks and banks. The market needs to be prepared for the changes coming its way through Fintech. The lack of regulations on Fintech results in Egypt not being ready for those changes, for example mobile wallets and micro financing. The lack of regulatory framework that businesses can correspond with influences their chances of capitalizing on the huge Internet traffic in Egypt. Regulators need to get more familiar with the geopolitical situations in order to eliminate the government’s concern about fraud and money laundering.

Competition changes consumer behavior

The Fintech industry needs to invest more effort into the overall consumer experience, rather than focusing too much on what competitors are doing. The whole industry is bound by what customers expect of it. The success of mobile money systems depends on an ecosystem that has to have a value proposition, where distributors meet the clients’ needs. The expectations of Egyptian Millennials play a big role in the shape of the industry since they make up the majority of the market. In addition to purchase, which is only the subset of payments, the market craves other financial services such as fast top-ups. On the other hand, older generations expect to conclude all their payments in one place, for example they would prefer to pay their bills at their local grocer. Even though one cannot deny the importance of technology, it is important to note that consumers come first.

Fintech: friend or competition?

Banks consider Fintech to be both friend and competition, since Fintech startups do not create a big threat for banks due to more conservative consumers that maintain the demand on banks. The scarceness of Fintech startups reduces the threat banks are subjected to. Regulatory framework also protects banks from threats Fintech could present. However, bankers are convinced about the high need of accelerators aiming towards teaching and educating the youth at schools and universities about Fintech. The Fintech industry in Egypt, as opposed to other countries, has the advantage of an unbanked population. Abroad, Fintech startups had to convince people to migrate from banks to outside of the banking system. In Egypt, people work with Fintech companies that understand the market and supply to their needs. Bankers agree to Fintech companies being at an advantage as long as they focus on the basic business needs of the market and have the right knowhow.
One of the biggest challenges the Fintech industry is facing today is the lack of knowhow on financial services, which can cause the death of a disruptive and potentially successful idea. Financial literacy is very important to maintain operations and establish valuable partnerships within the financial industry. Fintech startups need to have enough perseverance and the willingness to learn the so-called “bank language.”
Neither the Fintech industry nor banks can survive in the market on their own, which presents banks with the need to meet Fintech startups halfway by learning their language and adapting to changes they are bringing to the market.

Alliances for financial inclusion are emerging and the ecosystem is changing

The time for change has come and the panel’s speakers are advising banks to learn from experience. The size of the market and the disruption of the different business models are so impactful they could attract regional players. For financial inclusion to happen in a sustainable and mutually beneficial manner, banks, the Fintech industry and governments need to work together. The government is one of the biggest clients for both banks and Fintech startups and offers both parties various opportunities that could result in a lot of change if seized. Egypt has a unique advantage with the power of its market that could increase the pace of financial inclusion. Informal economies have helped the country survive the last 5 years and have given industry players the right incentives to help improve and explore the country’s GDP. Many institutions remain on “the dark side” of financial inclusion such as Bank Nasser, which recently partnered with Vodafone Cash and has enabled the first government to person transaction to over four thousand women in the Nafaqa “alimony” program, who now get access to their funds through a single rapid mobile transaction. There are many more user cases that desperately need financial inclusion to overcome financial issues that can simply be solved by providing them with more solutions such as pension attainment, microfinance and eventually alternative scoring on mobile wallets to grant them access to emergency credit.

It is undeniable that financial inclusion will bring many opportunities to the region, which will not only improve the quality of life for its civilians, but also will also stimulate its economy and allow it to boom. The road to financial inclusion requires patience, effort and a lot of collaboration between the various players of the market of finance. It has a lot of room for creation, innovation and disruption that will break the chains of tradition and allow the younger generations to do what they can do best: defy the norm.

Egypt seems to be regaining its touristic traction and we’re here to help you accept
